When Ferruccio Lamborghini, in foreground, first unveiled his 3.5-litre V12 engine it was in the racy configuration as originally produced by Giotto Bizzarrini. Joining him at the launch were Giovanni Canestrini, cigar-smoking editor and journalist, and driver-engineer Piero Taruffi in Argyle jumper.
